KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered on Thursday the federal government to remove PPP leader Nisar Khuhro’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL). A two-judge bench of the SHC permitted him to travel abroad from April 9 till May 19. During the hearing, a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor stated before the bench that the corruption watchdog is conducting inquiries against Khuhro, apprehending that he might not fly back home after travelling abroad. The prosecutor, therefore, pleaded with the high court to not permit him to go out of the country. EAST LAKE, Flordia: A Florida couple was shocked to find a 7 to 9-foot alligator on the lanai of the house after hearing a growling sound which later managed to free itself and went for a swim in the backyard pool. Tim Kelly told WTVT-TV that he found the alligator on the lanai of his Pinellas County home after hearing a growling sound that was stuck under an end table. The man said that he was not sure how the alligator got into that predicament. He immediately called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). While they were waiting for FWC to arrive, the gator managed to free itself from the table and went for a swim in Kelly’s pool before an officer arrives at the scene. “We were just sitting here having coffee just watching him swim around in the pool. A woman has pleaded guilty to deliberately poising her ailing baby at the hospital in New Zealand.  The 35-year-old woman was caught mixing antidepressants, pharmaceutical eye drops, and nasal spray into the child’s feeding tube in 2019, while he lay fighting for life in hospital. The concoction put the child at risk of brain damage, strokes and seizures. It also had the potential to kill the child. The toddler, who was born prematurely, had been admitted to Dunedin Hospital in August that year after contracting bronchitis. She mixed tetrahydrozoline and sertraline into milk and bottle-fed the baby. Hours later the child had to be airlifted to Auckland’s Starship Children’s Hospital after he suddenly became floppy and unresponsive, with a dangerously low heart rate. The baby suffered brain damage during this time and had to be placed in an induced coma. At the time, doctors had no idea what had caused the toddlers health to decline so bad. LONDON: More employers in Britain say working from home is increasing the productivity of their staff, according to a survey published on Thursday. A third of employers think the shift to home-working has boosted productivity, up from 28% last June, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development said. Those who said working from home had decreased productivity fell to 23% from 28%. “The pandemic has shown that ways of working that previously seemed impossible are actually possible,” Claire McCartney, CIPD senior policy adviser for resourcing and inclusion, said. WASHINGTON: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Wednesday it had approved the design for the Boeing 737-8200, part of the Boeing 737 MAX series, a necessary step before the U.S. planemaker can begin delivering the airplanes to Ryanair. The FAA said the 737-8200 incorporates all of the design improvements that were part the 20-month review of the 737 MAX that led to the ungrounding of the MAX in November, more than a year after two fatal crashes killed 346 people. Ryanair first ordered the 737-8200 plane, which seats 197 passengers, in 2014. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency still must approve the aircraft, a move that could come soon after the FAA approval. During the period of a day, the total count of active cases was recorded at 53,127 and the positivity rate stood at 9.93 per cent. The health facilities across the country conducted 50,055 coronavirus detection tests, taking the total number of COVID-19 tests to 10,247,374 since the first case was reported. According to the statistics, 106 patients were declared critical, adding to the total number of patients suffering from sensitive health condition up to 3,303. ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in Islamabad has issued notices to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and other accused once again to appear in the hearing of a corruption reference, ARY News reported on Wednesday. The accountability court conducted the hearing of corruption reference against Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah and others. During the hearing, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor pleaded the court to order arrests of the accused who remained absent. The defence lawyer argued that the accused have only received the summons, hence only notices should be issued to them. He added that the issuance of arrest warrants without complying with the summons will be contrary to the principles of justice. The counsel said that copies of reference were not provided to the accused in order to ascertain the charges against the nominated persons. KARACHI: A religious scholar, Mufti Saleemullah got injured in a gun attack near Karachi’s Manghopir road on Wednesday, reported ARY News. The police relayed unknown armed men opened fire on his car, as a result of which he sustained two bullet injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Two women, including his wife, were also in the car when it came under the attack but they remained unhurt. ISLAMABAD: The District Health Officer (DHO) Office has confirmed that 108 children aged up to 10 years have contracted novel coronavirus in Islamabad during the past 24 hours, ARY News reported on Wednesday. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will likely to receive its second consignment of purchased coronavirus vaccine on Wednesday (today), quoting sources ARY News reported. The second batch of half a million doses of China-made Covid-19 vaccine, Sinopharm, will reach Islamabad in a special flight from China. A video has gone viral on social media which showed a little girl falling asleep on stage during her dance performance in China. The five-year-old girl was dozing off while apparently participating in an event with other girls on the stage who continued with their dance moves. The girl performing next to her tried many times to wake her up, however, her efforts go in vain as the partner kept enjoying her nap on the stage. The happening amused audience who were present at the event and those who watched the interesting video online. The girl’s mother said that she usually takes a quick nap during lunchtime but she could not do so due to the performance on the day. The mother added that she could not wake her up even after the show as she was so tired and fell asleep on the stage during her performance. KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed on Wednesday the federal government to fix the price of a Covid-19 vaccine imported by the private sector in a week. A two-member bench comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Amjad Ali Sahito disposed of an appeal of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) that challenged a single bench’s March 18 verdict. On March 18, the single bench had suspended the drug regulatory authority’s notification with regard to the withdrawal of exemption in Covid-19 vaccines import to a private pharma company. An Egyptian woman has stabbed a taxi driver in the chest several times after engaging in an argument over fares. A woman stabbed a taxi driver in the chest multiple times using a sharp object before fleeing from the scene as she thought of being overcharged, according to the initial police investigation. The driver and the traveller were reportedly got into an argument over taxi fare. The driver succumbed to his wounds before arriving in the hospital, Gulf News reported. Police patrols were dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving a report about the crime. In light of the statements of eyewitnesses, they checked surveillance cameras to identify the perpetrator of the crime. The suspect was later arrested after the police managed to identify the suspected woman and launched a manhunt to capture her. The latest statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) showed the COVID-19 has claimed 78 more lives and 4,757 fresh infections were reported during the period. During the period of a day, the total count of active cases was recorded at 50,397. The health facilities across the country conducted 43,965 coronavirus detection tests, taking the total number of COVID-19 tests to 10,197,329 since the first case was reported. According to the statistics, 27 patients were declared critical, adding to the total number of patients suffering from sensitive health condition up to 3,197.
