RAWALPINDI: Six policemen deputed at Murree Police Station in Rawalpindi on Thursday tested positive for the novel coronavirus, ARY News reported.  As per details, 19 policemen deputed at the Murree PS including the Station Head Officer (SHO) underwent the COVID-19 diagnosis test, out of which six were tested positive. The policemen were quarantined soon after detection of the virus. The statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has shown that the coronavirus pandemic claims 58 more lives, whereas, 2,475 new infections were reported during the last 24 hours. LAHORE: An accountability court in Lahore has handed over Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Khawaja Muhammad Asif to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on physical remand till January 13 in assets beyond income case, ARY News reported on Thursday. Judge Jawadul Hassan heard the assets beyond income case against the PML-N lawmaker where the prosecution sought physical remand of the accused. KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) extended on Thursday interim bail granted to former Sindh minister Jam Khan Shoro and others until Feb 4 in a case related to illegal allotment of state land and assets beyond means. As a two-judge bench of the SHC resumed hearing, the accused appeared before it. LAHORE: Air and road traffic have disrupted owing to poor visibility owing to dense fog in different parts of Punjab including Lahore while the visibility rate at Allama Iqbal International Airport reduced to as low as 50 metres, ARY News reported on Thursday. A schoolboy in Scotland suffered a collapsed lung after choking on a piece of popcorn.  Two-year-old, Jordy Gordon from Fort William, Scotland, was just two years old when he choked on the snack and unknowingly inhaled a kernel, which obstructed his airways. His mum took him to the hospital when he couldn’t stop coughing, wrongly suspecting he had a chest infection. But scans revealed the tiny piece of popcorn had caused one of Jordy’s lungs to completely collapse and he was kept in for treatment. But a follow-up scan to check his lung function revealed he had a potentially-fatal heart condition where his pulmonary veins were in the wrong place. ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in Islamabad has approved one-day transit remand of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Khawaja Muhammad Asif in assets beyond income case, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
